The International Court of Justice (ICJ), the principal judicial organ of the UN, delivers its judgment on the preliminary objections raised by the Russian Federation in the case concerning Allegations of Genocide under the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (Ukraine v. Russian Federation: 32 States intervening), on 2 February 2024, at the Peace Palace in The Hague, the seat of the Court. Session held under the presidency of Judge Joan E. Donoghue, President of the Court. The Court’s role is to settle, in accordance with international law, legal disputes submitted to it by States and to give advisory opinions on legal questions referred to it by authorized UN organs and agencies.

In einem zweiten Verfahren wegen Verstößen gegen die Völkermordkonvention kann sich die Ukraine durchsetzen, aber nur, dass der IGH zuständig ist und verhandelt, ob die Ukraine Völkermord gegen die „Volksrepubliken“ begangen hat oder nicht.
