Maritime forces from Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, the United States, and Uruguay landed on the beach during a UNITAS Gold amphibious landing demonstration. UNITAS Gold is the 50th iteration of the annual multinational maritime exercise known as UNITAS, which provides the opportunity to conduct and integrate joint and combined land, maritime, coast guard and air operations in a realistic training environment. Vorbild ist die Guerilla-Taktik der Mudschaheddin und Taliban in Afghanistan. Man könnte auch an die Stay-behind-Gruppen der Nato denken. Und dann glauben Militärs, es würden „deutsche Schiffe und britische Flugzeuge“ Kanada zur Hilfe kommen.

Während in Deutschland der Afghanistan-Krieg kaum aufgearbeitet wird, beeindruckt die New York Times mit einer Recherche über einen Mann, der dank westlicher Unterstützung jahrelang folterte und mordete.
